‘Untie the Knot’ Climate Change, Child Marriage, and the Quest for Freedom

On this International Day of the Girl Child 2023, I’m proud to announce that Evoca Pictures has allied with the esteemed NGO Equality Now to spotlight an often-overlooked crisis: the intersection between climate change and child marriage.

I have always believed in the power of storytelling. Stories have the unique ability to transcend boundaries, stir consciousness; and sow seeds of understanding, empathy, and change. The story we tell through ‘Untie the Knot’ unravels the unseen layers of struggle, resilience, and aspiration residing in every girl affected by this crisis.

At the centre of this campaign is an animated short film that draws attention to girls worldwide who, amidst escalating environmental crises, are stripped of their agency, dreams, and right to choose.

Child marriage isn't an isolated issue tucked away in distant corners of the globe; it's a pervasive violation occurring at an alarming rate. Climate change intensifies this as families grapple with instability and uncertainty, seeking coping mechanisms within the folds of tradition and cultural norms.

Understanding is the first step towards change. As we premiere ‘Untie the Knot’, I invite you to join us in this journey of awareness and advocacy. Watch it, share it, discuss it. Let’s collectively untie the knot.

When we stand up for the rights of one girl, we take steps towards upholding the rights of girls everywhere, fostering a world where freedom isn't a distant dream but a tangible, accessible reality for all.
